I'm down to either the Onkyo SR805 and the Sony ES STR-DA5200ES

Price is the same since the Sony is marked down from $1500 but that's because another model is out.

More concerned about Video than audio as I have a dedicated music system elsewhere and this will only be used for TV/Games and a rare DVD here and there.

System consists of DirecTV HR20, Sony KDS-60A2000 no HD/Blueray yet but will get an Oppo DVD player soon. I guess what I'm curious about is which one of these will do the best job upconverting all sources to one resolution (the TV's native resolution is 1080p)...it's a little annoying having the TV do it (screen goes dark and it takes a second or two to change).

Did not look into your specific models to know the difference but as long as they both have the features you want, my assumption is the Onkyo is better based on the products I've seen from both companies. Your particular need may make the Sony a better choice if it integrates with your other (Sony) components...

It's very similar to the Onkyo of course, but better built.
Don't worry about THX Ultra 2 as it is only of any use if your room is larger than 2k sq ft.
It has HDMI 1.3 30 watts less than the Onkyo, but better transformers and power supplies mean serious performance. Superb circuitry for the money and quality chips. No-compromise video performance for the money.

Integra

Elite 92 and I LOVE it. I'm upgrading it to the 94 just because i want the future proof of an extra HDMI and Ethernet. I don't buy new stuff every 2-3 years. Check out the new Elites.

with some products, don't like the harsh sound of them, etc. Gotta search around.

Sounds like you need next to no audio processing. At the prices you are considering, can't you get some very nice video processors?

Caveat- I know next to nothing about video processors!
