for years in the low end consumer market. Pure crap unless you spend some serious $$$$. It's coming back with new leadership from the "old school" crew, and the Reference stuff (Everest in the JBL camp) does trickle down, but they still sell junk and iPod stuff to the masses.

I looked at other items that place sells look like it's mainly stuff from China.

I like the yellow dyed paper to "simulate" the B&amp;W midrange kevlar. :)

It's very possible Herrington paid B&amp;W to make this product exclusively for them...that might explain why there is no mention of it on B&amp;W's website.

dilute the brand.

Own many pairs of JBL speakers since the early 80's, collect and listen to even older stuff, go hang out on the Lansing Heritage forum and then tell me the history of JBL.

Cheers.<ul><li><a href="http://www.audioheritage.org/intro.htm">http://www.audioheritage.org/intro.htm</a</li></ul>

If you look at the revenue numbers that's where all the money is being made under the JBL brand.

A lot of the current JBL consumer products are also used in various forms across other Harmon brands.

Harmon's consumer focus with JBL isn't in the high end area, it's mainly selling theatre in a boxes. Harmon owns Mark Levinson, Lexicon and Revel for the high end.

speakers are still an iconic, high-end product. They have models that simply aren't produced for the mass market in the US.

The higher the price tag the better a product seems to sell. Still the asian market is only a niche area compared to the main market JBL focuses on.

But most of their speakers are impressive.

Every brand is entitled to take advantage of an opportunity to provide their customers with gear they think they may well want to use. Ipod speakers are a good idea - many people (including audiophiles) have an ipod which they sometimes want to hear without headphones.
