custom HTPC is the only way to do it right now. There are some nice boxed HTPC solutions but any of the good ones are ridiculously pricey. Once the XBMC linux port is done, I'll set up a small HTPC for HD output to the TV and stream everything off my existing NAS array =)

But they jacktards didn't implement it out of the gate so now we're stuck with this mess.

One of the key selling features of AACS is that it allows you to copy content to your HD and stream it from there (mandatory managed copy). Provided the key of your optical player hasn't been revoked, you can keep it there for life or longer. Full resolution, not watered down crap either.

But noooooooooooooo...now we're stuck w/ this whole crap where the hacking community just wanted to circumnavigate the AACS totally and now the content providers are going to make things even more difficult for the end users to have "fair use" of the media.
