I agree. And I don't want to spend that much. But I figured I would say the limit was $1200 so that I could get a broad range of suggestions.

6000:1 contrast ratio (at least so they say). Only complaint is a few motion artifacts on certain sports, like hockey and basketball. Paid $1199 on sale.

Looks good, volume adjust in very fine increments so it's easy to get it just right, no need to have DVD player cluttering up bedroom.

there's not a lot of connections and the remote needs backlighting but the set does a decent enough job in the bedroom. I'm actually thinking of getting another to put beside the pool.
