I think I have finally did it. I couldnt resist. I reurned my 37" Vizio. I bought it site to store (they ship it to the store via UPS). It must have gotten jumbled during shipping because the PIP funtions didnt work and there was random flickering with the screen. I return it and I decide to check out Sam's Club clearance aisle before I get another 37" incher off the shelf. What do I see but a 46" LCD Vizio Galleria series discounted to $1000. I had a $843 gift card for my return of the 37 incher so I upgraded. Did I mentioned this is for my sad small bedroom which is probably 12x12. The bohemouth is not mounted yet but I feel guilty with it on the wall.

Theater design has really changed. The middle of the theater was a great place to sit in theaters in the 80's. Now the theaters are smaller, and the seating rises sharply.
I used to sit in the middle row of a theater of about 40 rows of seats. Now the back row in today's theaters is closer ... more like 20-25 rows from the screen, and it's too close. I get eye strain and can't keep up with the action if I'm that close and the images are that big.
Probably not a problem in home but I don't know for sure.

If the screen is too big, not only can the picture be overwhelming, but it can magnify any artifacts. Seems a shame to pay all that money and still se grain/saturation/pixelisation with an HD feed.
My in-laws sit 8' from their 51" and their picture looks horrendous on SDTV and reasonable (imperfections are visible) on HD. But from 13' their HD picture looks great.

Really - like Rubberduckie said - but that really is more of a result of technology - as some tv sets will look horrid on SD material and others look pretty good. My SXRD I think does pretty good with SD even up close.

I have a 32 Sharp Aquos in the bedroom, and could see going up to maybe a 37", if it wasnt the bedroom.
I put the Pioneer 43" in my bedroom once. I looked out of place, but was fun to watch.

However it looks like ABC is putting out bad HD. The NBA Finals looked like crappola and primetime shows too. It looks like SD only in widescreen.
