I went to a HT store that is fairly renound in the area for carrying only highline stuff.

The only brands they currently stock

Fujitsu
Rotel
B&W
Sony
Classe

I only went their on a whim because I was in the area and was told to check out this one room they had setup with the sony projector.

I had originally crossed it off of my list of 1080p projectors because a) it was very dull and faded looking for movies and b)its tv viewing was similar. I now know that it was due to it not being calibrated correctly. Both were setup on scalers and Blu-ray players.

The properly calibrated one wasnt exactly calibrated correctly either but it looked 10x better. In a blacked out room, it looked fantastic for both TV and movies in moderate light(moderate being about 45-60% of daylight)with the projector switched to a high brightness setting, TV looked fantastic, I was also permitted to play a couple holes of tiger woods 07 on their xbox 360 which was equally as impressive.

I must preface this by stating that this is only the second 1080p projector I have seen, the other being the Panny which was still brighter IMO.

Driving Excitement!

I've posted here before about the newly arriving JVC -- unbelievable machine and price that is hard to compete with.

Glad to hear that you're finally seeing something that is calibrated.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460012</a

Im also waiting to see the JVC

The setups I have seen have been calibrated excluding the runco.

This ones life expectancy is almost certainly going to be about a couple hundred hrs shorter.
