I posted earlier asking about Paradigm Monitor 7 speakers being too harsh up high. After some reseach I was told that my OPPO 981 DVD player is not a very good CD player with nice speakers and a powerful amp.

I'm now looking for recommendations for a stand alone CD player without the harshness. By modest, I mean +-200 bucks.

If you did not see the other thread, it would be working with a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7 floor speakers powered by a Rotel 1042 two-channel amp.

Edit: I actually have the new OPPO 981 and want to keep it for the upconversion to 1080P for my Samusung that has 1080 native.

And for the $200 price range, I don't know that you'll beat it.

Inexpensive and available at Best Buy. This machine in CD playback far exceeds it's price in performance.

It's no Quad or Naim, but it is quite polite an innofensive with rather a sophisticated sound for the money.
