So on my 51" Hitachi, which is in my living room, I slowly started to notice fading on the left and right sides of the screen. Further investigation led me to conclude this was burn in from HD channels broadcasting in 4:3 format (black bars on the side as opposed to non hd channels in 4:3 where I have grey bars). I was only 2 days away from my 4 year warranty expiring so I called Circuit City. They dispateched a tech from some AV company in Boston and the guy confirmed my analysis. The claim went in and a few weeks went buy without hearing anything so I was starting to think they were going to deny the claim.

Got a call today stating that my claim has been accepted and they are going to replace the television! I should be getting a call in 7-10 days with all the updated claim info. I assume the replacement TV will be similar technology (RPTV). I wonder if I can get credit toward a new TV of my choice instead of a replacement. More info to follow when I have it.

I've been trying to correct it with some image inversion DVDs I made, but I don't have the time to watch hundred of hours of gradiant reverse-in images. :)

Even if it distorts the image a little, you get used to it after awhile.

on TV so you have to switch to 16:9 zoom which cuts off top and bottom. Sucks.
