Almost ready to drywall the ceiling and all that is left is to run the surround sound speakers.

History - Tv area is 18' long by 15.5' wide and part of an overall 31' by 15.5' area. Installing projector 14' from wall and prob a 6' to 7' screen. I also have a tv wired for behind the screen for day to day viewing and a tv over the fridge in the bar.

Problem is where to put and how many rear surrounds do I need? Upstairs has two rears and a rear center. Was thinking four rears for downstairs.

TIA for all the help!

Also, surf around the Polk Audio site a bit and you will find a downloadable Home Theater Handbook that explains HT from the ground up, including different kinds of HT's and most desirable speaker locations.

http://www.polkaudio.com/education/advice.php

Dipoles go besides the listening postions - not behind. Good reference material there. I would suggest that you run wires to the correct placement areas now - even if you do not use them - that way if you upgrade your speakers - you are ready.

so the field is wide open. I was thinking of in the wall around the front tv and projector but I am stumped on the rear.

will you have 5.1, 7.1 etc. Will you have a rear center channel.

I have a neighbor who built a Hometheater but put in huge speakers - but he has too small of a room. The sound is all messed up.
