I want a nice light oak coloured A/V cabinet to put under my plasma. AVS forums has a ton of stuff, but it's mostly really friggin expensive.
A couple covered drawers to hold some components. Room for my center channel on top.
Under 300-400 bucks...
Oh, and nice and wide... like at least 50 inches.
I guess I'm asking too much for a sizeable piece of furniture.
I'm thinking of going the Ikea route...

I want something that will look nice but isn't a hell of a whole lot. Looking to spend 200-250 tops.

I've read on the AVS that the Bush stuff is well... bush.
I'm really liking this at the moment, I might be perfect for you Cadiburns...<ul><li><a href="http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=12&productI d=51511&langId=-1&parentCats=10104*10174">Ikea.</a></li></ul>

My issue is depth, and 20" exterior depth doesn't leave me enough interior room. My guess is this cabinet would accomodate a 17" deep component before you started to run into trouble.
There is a furniture thread inside the plasma forum on avsforum that I found helpful. Not sure how much was suggested in the way of inexpensive solutions...as I typically breezed over those.

There is enough room to fit my receiver in one cubby hole and my cable box and DVD player in the other. Just an idea. It's $439 and 60" wide.<ul><li><a href="http://www.riverside-furniture.com/selprod.asp?p=8&m=1&id=LIF&pID=TV821C">Link to item</a></li></ul>
Shelves are adjustable and the back can be removed or drilled to get air in.
Center channel also fits perfectly in the middle.
My new 55" Mitsu DLP fits nicely on top. Though I may remove the legs so it sits lower.
My wife does not care for it much either but unless we wanted to spend much more money, this works well.
