I currently have a low-end HK AV reciever with 45 wpc in surround modes. It is about three years old. It is okay, but really underpowered.
I recently received a hand-me-down of a Kenwood receiver I purchased for my dad about six years ago. It has 110 wpc in surround mode.
The HK has all the typical stuff - coax & optical digital in, on-board processing for DD and DTS, but no built in phono.
The Kenwood has more power and the phono in, but no on board processing. It does have 6 channel input and my DVD player has processing for both DD and DTS.
So here is the question: do I even bother testing out the two receivers or just leave the Kenwood in the bedroom where I use it to play my Ipod and extra cd player through my Paradigm Atoms?
