I have a normal one on my roof...10 footer. will that work, or should I use the terk HD mini one they sold me?

Start from the ground up. Try rabbit ears, and if they don't work, keep upgrading until you have an antenna that does.
If the batsman doesn't hit the ball far enough for you to catch it, no size glove is gonna help you.

as HD signals tend to be more directional.

I am not a fan of Terk - return it and buy a rotor for your anteanna..
