Old Pioneer AV Dolby Pro-Logic receiver...with one RCA jack in the rear for center channel out. Tried to make it work with a center channel AR speaker I got...no such luck. Do I have to buy a powered center channel speaker? I hate not having the voices come out near the tv screen..have to turn up the volume too much.
Ideas?

Unless the source signal has a center channel, you won't get sound on the center speaker (such as from a stereo source). So play a DVD and make sure the DVD player is sending the output in Dolby 5.1. I've noticed some DVD's default to stereo sound output, even when they have the Dolby 5.1 sound tracks.
Disclaimer: I know I've used mixed terminology like Dolby 5.1 and Dolby Digital. I don't distinguish between them but hopefully everyone gets the drift.
