More specifically the kdf42we655. I'm not looking for anything crazy. We don't have, or plan on getting HDTV either. Just looking for something nicer to replace the old Toshiba CRT. I went to Tweeter just to look around and noticed that next to others it wasn't the best but the $2400 price tag made it seem like the right choice. I got home and started looking around online to see if anywhere else had it cheaper. I found TvCity they have it for $1800 and are only like 45min away from the house so I think I'll get it from there. I'm curious though...how come its so much cheaper at this store? Anything I should be cautious of? Lastly, any stands you would recommend?

On a side note, I just ordered a new PC with a 6800gt video card that has a DVI out. I'm thinking playing HL2 on a 42" screen might be kinda fun. Would it be a pain to hook the puter up to the tv, would it even look ok?

With an antenna and a good signal you can get HD for free with the Network channels. And using the cablecard means less outlay than with a cable box. Only real snag is you lose any ability to combine an HD Tivo with it.
If you dig Tivo, I'd suggest going with Satellite.
Great TV by the way. As good as it gets in that range.

Don't check with TVCity because many non-authorised outlets 'claim' to be when often they are not. Always check with the manufacturer if you are in the least bit concerned about having a manufacturer's warranty.

If not, give Tweeter a chanec to earn your business as they will match the price from any authorised dealer.

I have a Panasonic RPJ LCD (which comes with a PC input) and looks great (although not quite as good as a dedicated PC monitor) when used as a PC monitor.
You'll need an HDMI to DVI cable to do this with the Sony you're looking at.
No burn-in problems with LCD either. You'll probably like it.

I think its kinda silly to spend a ton on a tv and not use it to it. Its sorta like wasting the $1800. I told my dad, you just spent $1800 on a tv, might as well spend another $120 or so to make it look good. We have Suscom...whats PVR?

Buying an HDTV and not HAVING HDTV is like owning a Ferrari and never going over 55 and only driving on straight roads - what's the point?
