I have a budget Kenwood home theater system which came with a matching powered sub-woofer, which connects to the receiver using a single RCA cable. The sub-woofer now sounds blown. Can I just swap in any other powered sub-woofer with a similar connection? And, if I can, will the remote still control the sub-woofer volume?

I got a really nice Boston sub, and then upgraded the receiver a little later. It makes no difference as long as it takes the RCA plugs, and it will still be controlled by the amplifier.
