I just got a Plasma and my old DVD player is not progressive scan. But, I don't want to waste much onthis because I'd rather hold out to spend $ on HD DVD next year sometime. So, any recommendations? Will a no-name brand from Price Club for $40 work fine?

Lousey display, but performance is very impressive for the money. Compare it to a $1k machine and you'll see a difference, but not much of a difference.

The DVD player has to scale the image, and a cheap one isn't going to do a good job. Maybe go used and get a reasonable one?

and a $1000 Denon DVD2900. I see it every day at work.
