TV:

I was planning on getting the Sony KF-42WE610, until I realized they now have the KDF-42WE655 out. Any major reason to spend the extra ~$6-800 (which I would rather not do) besides the built in tuner? I'm going to BB tonight to check them both out.

Speakers:
I currently have a Onkyo receiver and 2 lg sized polk bookshelf speakers. I want to finish my system and figured I would just get more polk stuff (center, rears). This is obviously not a high end system by any means, but it will do the job. I've also considered leaving the polks separate for a stereo in a different room (not in my apartment, but down the road. Onkyo can do 2 rooms). If I do this, then I will buy all new surrounds, which will start to get pricey. Thoughts on this as well.

DVD:

Based on my TV and audio setup, what is the best DVD player to buy w/in a reasonable price range?

CD:

Should I get a separate CD player or just play them on the DVD. I'm thinking a decent quality 5 disc.

fyi-here's the rough layout of the new pad:

Speakers - just make sure you get the center channel of the same model for your system. One wants the timbre to be the same or becomes distracting when the sound moves right to left and vice versa.

But I would say that if you ever wanted to up the quality of your fronts, do it now rather than sink more money into timbre matching your new center with speakers you are planning on getting rid of. Look a few posts down for some advice on good value speakers, such as Paradigm Monitor series, etc.

For the DVD, definitely get one with Progressive Scan, a 5 disk from Sony is probably less than $150. Nothing wrong with using it as a CD player too.

at that price. I'm also planning on getting the 5 yr extended warranty for $450. Everywhere else is 4yr for $500. Covers bulbs and if I don't use it I get 1/2 back after 5yrs. plus only 3.9% tax (park meadows one)!
