I ask this because they have more logs in the road than any other player I've used (out of about 14 brands). 'Current operation prohibited at this time' is a fave of Sony's. I hate 'em!

Decontented version of their original player, the DVP-S7000. It lasted about 5 years before it started having problems reading discs.

Currently using a cheap (but Sage/Faroudja-equipped) Panasonic.

even on perfectly clean brand new discs. Besides, it was very picky about light scratches and dirt from day 1, just like their CD players.

No more Sony CD or DVD players for me.

Went back to my roots with Yamaha and a DVD-C940 and it's been great for a $500 player.

It works, after all this time. (dvp-s7000) Until I upgrade the TV, I'll just keep using this.

system recently too. double the speakers double the pleasure.

For it had a lip synch bug. You had to stop/start every once in a while to get it to synch up. Known issue, Sony would fix for free, but I didn't want to ship it.

Aside from that, it was big compared to the modern slimline units, but it loaded discs and menus fast.

In comparison to my Philips DVP642, the Sony seemed lightyears ahead in speed, but the Philips plays everything.
