I think I'll be ordering a 20D in the next 24 hrs. If I mention a referral, I get nothing, but you'll get about $30. First one to reply with:
FIRST NAME
LAST NAME
CITY
STATE

gets the referral (provided I do place the order).

onecall is a great retailer...the 50" Sony Grand Wega i ordered from them was just delivered yesterday. i was on the phone w/a salesman for ~40 minutes and not once did he try and pressure me to close the sale.

I've made a few offers on a few different lenses. I'm waiting for the sellers to get back, and I'll see what's left in the wallet before I pre-order the camera. I'll post here when I put the order in. Regardless, since they don't charge me until it ships, I would presume that they won't cut you a check until it ships as well.

Enjoy that TV! I hear more and more raves about it everyday!

That's coming from onecall. 5 fps baby!!!

I just came back from B&H today...picked up a 17-40L which I'll use for a general purpose/landscape/architecture type lens. I got a chance to play with the 70-200 IS...wooahhhhhh momma! That's on the list for next spring. It was pretty funny to watch peoples reactions while I was messing around with it. Those canon white lenses attract a LOT of attention! :-P

I'm hunting and pecking on fredmiranda and ebay for a mint 50 1.4 for indoor/low light type of work (I'd rather have a 35mm, but it's too expensive).

Question for you...I want the 70-200IS for track events primarily. It doesn't seem like 200mm is going to be enough reach. I'm debating between the 1.4 and 2.0 extenders. I noticed quite a big drop off in focusing speed with the 2.0. I could work around that by pre-focusing somewhere near the distance of my intended target, but I don't have a lot of faith that I'll bring home a high percentage of keepers with the 2.0 in place. It just hunted, or didn't focus at all sometimes. Now without the extender...DEAR GOD. Lightening fast focusing! The 17-40L was almost as quick...can't wait to get my grubby hands on it! (I had them ship to my house so I wouldn't have to pay tax).

I did mess around with some of the higher end Tamron's and Sigma's, but they felt like toys compared to the Canon L line. Almost like comparing a Buick to an S class Mercedes. Night and day difference.

congrats & thanks for using me as the referral. :) the 20D sounds like a great body. i luckily sold my 10d a week or 2 before the 20D was announced since it was just sitting in the closet. almost got my 1d mk2 from onecall, but pcconnection came through first (i ordered one soon after it was announced and it was really hard to come by anywhere)

70-200IS: 200mm actually is 320mm on the 20D due to it's 1.6x cropping factor, which is a decent amount of reach. from my experience w/the 10D, you might be ok with the 1.4x TC which makes it 448mm (200x1.4x1.6) & you only lose 1 f/stop vs the 2 stops you'd lose with the 2x TC (and not to mention less image degradation vs. the 2x TC as well).

if you can, rent a 70-200 + a teleconverter from a camera shop the next time you go to the track...that should help you gauge how the reach is before you drop any more moolah :)

I got tired of waiting on Onecall's endless list. I canceled the order yesterday, called Dell (in stock), and put the order in. It shipped today...(woo hoo!!) for $60 less and supposedly with an 18-55mm lens that will end up on eBay in short order.

Sorry...the last week I was biting my nails. Everyone was posting saying they rec'd their Dell orders, and nobody said anything about getting orders from onecall. I gave in to "want it now" mentality. The price savings was a nice surprise!

ironically i did the same thing with onecall & my 1D MKII. intially ordered @ onecall and then a few other places. in the end I cancelled them all because PCConnection came through first (where I bought my 10D under similar conditions as well)
