A few quick pics of my new baby. I've only had her for a couple of days, but needless to say I am a very proud new owner. First impressions are great, I love it. The colour is Ebony black pearlescent, which I'm so pleased with.
The rear seat entertainment looks like a factory install... was the RSE option available in the UK back in 2005 or is that just a nice aftermarket install? If it is aftermarket, please share the details. Congrats and welcome to the D3 Forum!

The RSE is an aftermarket, but I must say it was a good job. The DVD head unit is in the spare slot in the glove box alongside the CD changer. The unit and screens are by a company called Directed Electronics from Vista CA. Not sure if that's a good or bad maker, but the install and picture quality is great. A couple of sets of cordless headphones and a remote control complete the setup, you can see the reciever for the remote at the base of the rear console below the climate controls. I was worried that the sports suspension with 20" alloys would be harsh, but it is far from it, even in dynamic mode. Also, I have not been able to confuse the adaptive cruise once yet, even on minor roads I can't fault it.

I've gone from a silver D2, with black leather interior to a black D3 with silver grey interior. As long as I can keep it clean inside it's a light and refreshing place to be.

Beautiful car. I have a 2004 A8L with 63,000 miles. It was delivered in October of 2003 and I have had absolutely no problems except the automatic trunk latch which was fixed long ago. I'm going to keep it until I can get a diesel in the US (I live in Wisconsin and need all wheel drive for the snow) I think Audi will probably import a diesel in 2009- looks like they will use the urea injection bluetec Mercedes system to meet the emissions requirements in the United States. I know our gas is much cheaper than in the UK and Europe but its only going to get more expensive. Are the video screens an Audi or aftermarket option?

Funny - I'm trying to be practical and drive my 01.4 A4 into the ground, and my wife would probably LOVE for me to pick up a used A8.

wouldn't mind your gas / petrol prices. It's almost the equiv of 2.00USD a litre here now, crazy. Road tax has been raised for larger cars now too.

you would be mad NOT to go for it. And I bought mine off of an Audi main dealer at that price. With four new tyres, new brake rotors / disks and pads, 2 years free servicing and maintenance. Sell the A4 and make the jump.... you know you want to.

Totally agree,
I recently (1 month ago) bought a hi spec A8 for less than 30% of new cost. WHY would you want to buy a (for example) new Mondeo for the same money. I really hope you enjoy as much as I am, please send any spare petrol in my diretion though!
Good Luck

I enquired about that one, but I guess you got to it first. I see it is still advertised on Autotrader though (unless he is selling another one). Another nice car Aurorablue, and at a great price. Congratulations.

Looks like alcantara on the door panels there. Do you have the centre tunnel or dash lower in leather too? The seats look to be in great condition, is the drivers seat marked at all? My business partner had a W12 with silver leather, and some dark jeans stained it blue.

bottom half, glove box and centre tunnel. Alcantara roof lining, A,B and C pillars and rear parcel shelf. The seats are in great condition with no marks or anything. I'm hoping I can keep them in as good shape as the first owner. The seats may be harder to clean due to perforations for vented seats but time will tell.
I had a really good dealer that I bought it from (Camberley Audi). They put on four new tyres, discs and pads. Replaced the front grill as it had a small crack in it. They also MOT'd it too as it will be due its first MOT at the end of June.
This is one very happy D3 owner.

My 04 A8L has a heel rest under the pedals. It looks like they leave that out of the right hand drive model unless I'm misreading the photos. Does yours have knee airbags?

Euro/US difference. I'm sure there must be other Euro/US differences, like lighting specs and fingerprint reader. Can you post a pic of the heal rest, out of curiosity?

and it's incredible how much of a difference it makes to the interior, and how much you miss it in A8s without.
