Cars with build date of Nov 2006 and later, not Nov 2007...

I couldn't get the part # but it can definitely be retrofitted and more information will be available soon.

Audi had just gotten the kits here and installed on the press cars for this event right beforehand, so it must not be too hard.

He bought my business partner's old W12 and has retro-fitted digital TV, upgraded the MMI and is looking ot retro-fit the reversing camera, and he's a dab hand at upgrading RNS-E units with Bluetooth and TV when Audi UK aren't able to even offer it as a factory option, so I think he's pretty clued up.

Anyway, he reckons the hardware is basically the Denison Gateway 500, and MMI has code to understand it so it doesn't need to pretend to be a CD changer. Retro-fitting alonside a single CD changer should be easy as the A8 has room for two changers, so hopefully spare power and MOST fibre will be right in the glovebox.

I'm hoping I can get it fitted to the S8, and then I should know a bit more about the hardware and MMI updates needed.

I'm also hoping that the USB port functionality means bigger media players than an iPod can be accomodated, like a 120GB Jobo player or something, so that I can rip my CDs at 256Kb/s and still get plenty on the unit.
