Last week my tire monitor system kept going off, but everything seemed fine, all the tires had about the same pressure, other than the spare which was one pound lower than the rest. I just figured the monitoring system was being really sensitive and possibly the pressures were reading low because it was pretty cold out. Well, turns out the monitoring system was telling the truth! Got out of the car Saturday, looked down and happened to notice a screw sticking out of the side of my rear passenger-side tire! So, next time my car tries to tell me something, I guess I better pay attention =)

I had my monitoring system fail just after finding a nail in one of my tires. It turned out that the battery failed on that wheel about the time I had the tire patched. On the bright side, the TPMS did alert you to a slow leak.

at 20 mph at a toll booth on the 90. Result - a 3 inch bulge in the sidewall requiring a new tire.
$250 later for a new tire and $50 for fitting and I am back in business.

I think everyone here has felt your pain once in their life, that's why I purchased the wheel and tire insurance from Audi, 100% replacement, no deduct.

I opted for the standard 18"s for NY driving. My last two cars had (have) 35-series tires, and, as we all know, wheels are expensive...and the ride can be more than a little rough with low-profiles. My thought was that 45-series "shouldn't" present a road-hazard problem.
I'll be picking up my A8L in about a week, and I think I have to decide fairly soon...
Any thoughts?

when I picked up the car. Actually, I was not even aware that Audi offered this insurance.
I have it through tirerack for the 20's that I run in the summer.
Next time!
