"The 2005.1 version is for the 2006 Audi A8L. The 2004.2 version is for
the 2004 Audi A8L. The 2005.1 version will not work for your vehicle
due
to the differences in the navigation system software and hardware. The
next version release has yet to be determined for the 2004 Audi A8L."

Huh?

Does that mean that the 2005 NavTeq DVD I bought as soon as it was released (and which seems to be working very well) for my 2004 A8L, is actually a 2004.2 version?

(Also, how severe are the problems that would then delay the official release of a Ver. 5 for about 6 months?)

PS: I have a late release 2004 A8L--does that explain why I do not seem to be having problems with the v.2005 DVD?

The Disc is entitled:
MMI NAVIGATION SYSTEM North America
Audi AND-H0502
Version 5

I guess this is 2005.2 as stated above.
I used it in my 05 A8 without a problem.

The product id for MY2004, MY2005 and MY2006 is the same DVD which implies they now have an update that is compatible with all current A8 D3 models. Sounds like they have solved whatever incompatibility problems there may have been.

Or is someone already using it? On a 2004?

V4 for 2004 (update), V4 for 2005 (replacement) and V5 for 2006. I can't find any other information. Where did you get the info?

When you look at the URL for each model year after selecting 2004, 2005, or 2006, it displays the same exact product id (3305) for each order in the URL for Audi North America DVD.

Meanwhile, lets put Navteq in for the most opaque website in the western world...
