I am the proud new owner of a 2000 Audi A8L with the nav system in the DIS (no video). The dealer did a good job of replacing the manuals but did not include that one. None of the buttons under the tilting cover (hiding the console cup holder) will cause the chosen town to be saved. One of the buttons (looks like 2 car outlines superimposed) doesn't seem to have any function at all. Can someone explain the controls or steer me to a website that has them?

I think that the unit is similar (if not the same as) the A6 unit from around 2001.

The "2 car outlines" works only if you have already started the navigation. It is used to dial in how many miles of detour you need to take from your present en route location (due to traffic jam--thus the "2 cars," construction, etc.) to your destination.

I think there is a MEM button where you can store a destination for which you have already plotted a course on the NAV unit.
