Related story: I was at the wedding of a friend: The matron of honor was a medschool classmate. Hot day, longer catholic ceremony, church a/c not working well. From the back of the church, as the wedding party processed out, I saw my friend leap out of the aisle and over a pew (quite an achievement in a bridesmaids dress) and several other folks turn in that direction. Turns out one of the guests (~75yo guy) had decided that this was the day to wear not one, but two of those squeezy armbands that are supposed to naturalistically decrease appetite and improve mood, etc. Though wearing *one* may be... um... unsupported by the scientific literature, wearing two (one on each arm) just makes the cardiovascular system go all goofy (hope that's not too technical a term). After sitting in that overheated church for a long while, his cv system just couldn't make heads or tails of what it was supposed to do when he stood up to watch the wedding party leave the church, so he hit the deck. Showed up at the reception a couple of hours later, embarrassed but ready to party. No arm bands in sight - He left those in the ER. greenie 10-10-2005, 12:09 AM |
