View Full Version : After a week at the dealer to resolve passenger air bag faults, got my car back today. Here's what

...they found:

Audi sent two field engineers to work on the car. After removing center console, all wiring harness pin connections were AOK---However, they did discover that the wires, which are bundled together via straps, were strapped too tightly, causing an electrical bounce through the insulation between two wires. This apparently threw off the fault codes for the passenger air bag system. They brought a new wiring harness with them anyway, so they installed that just to be sure.

While the car was there, they also did the R&R work on my "noisey" driver's door trim panel and the malfunctioning sunroof control module. For the moment, all's well and good. While the A4 loaner was fun to drive, it was really good to again get behind the wheel of the A8 :-D

Say, derfA8l, it's Miles from over on the C6 list.

Well, now we're both back behind the wheel of the cars we call "ours". It is kind of interesting that both our Audi's stayed at the dealer about the same length of time over the same week and needed visits from Audi's team of "Field Engineers". The dealer did say the individual that finally fixed the gps on my car serves a "region" of several neighborng states.

Wife and I went for a fun ride thru some curvy rural roads to celebrate today. It was about a 50 mile trip. One thing we did was to turn off all the computer driven features in the car and concetrate on the basic fun of just driving.

It's just not to be missed. Audi does such a great job of baking in a large measure of sporting ability in their larger cars if you choose to just concentrate on that aspect.

Thanks again for introducing yourself on the A6 forum and have a ball with Audi's premier car!

...However, knowing this, you'd think that more care in the strapping/bundling process would be in the forefront of the assembly procedure. Well, let's see if this did the trick.

Too tight in the bundle? Come on......

...examining every one of them for a potential wiring harness to passenger seat connection problem. If the car doesn't throw any more faults for this issue, then I'll be happy to take them at what they said. Who knows?
