One of the forum members just turned in his D3 and bought a 04 Phaeton V8. He wants me
to put Bluetooth in it, XM radio and hardwire his radar detector.

What is the forum/discussion group that I need to go to for some research?

You might try V'Tex Phaeton - do a search or check out the Table of Contents pages on these forums - also the V'Tex Touareg - a guy named Spockat does custom installs and makes a wiring harness also for Phaeton. I think the phone systems and issues are similar. Good luck!

But still haven't figured out if anybody has done the XM or Sirus into an 04, there is no procedure.

And they talk about a Parrot 3100 bluetooth phone install, but nobody showed how to do it.

I picked up the Phaeton today. I now have my A8 and Phaeton. If you go to the Phaeton forum in VW Vortex and go to the table of contents (FAQ) link, scroll down to Phaeton upgrades and modification after delivery, there are examples of everything I want to do. I just don't understand all the technical stuff.

...but there are no instructions on how to do it.....just a lot of people that are talking about it!

I could not find how to put in a Parrot 3100, but somebody said they did it....could not figure out how to do sateillite radio, but there is a thread on it, but nobody says they have done it....there is the way to hardwire the radar detector.....

Maybe I'm missing something, will keep researching.

as Paldi said, just ask in the forum and you should get the answers you want. I have k40 hardwired in my w12 and it looks and works great. I had the ultimate paint shop in Lake Bluff do it as I became well acquianted with then from my S8...they did a great job with it. Joe Young's the owner there and you can speak directly to him. The whole package including install is about $1100. The other issues I have not done, but there are couple forum members who have had it done I think and I'm sure if you ask they'll be more than happy to give you some details.

I haven't registered on Vortex yet. I just picked up a 2004 Phaeton 4.2 with 14k miles. My lease is up next month on my A8 with 50K miles. For the amount of miles I put on, the VW is the most car you can get for your money considering its depreciation. After I get a chance to "live" in the Phaeton a while I will post a comparison.
