Got my car back yesterday with the XM installed. Took an extra day because they were missing a bracket needed for installation, but that was no big deal as they sent the part overnight.

It integrates with the MMI beautifully and after signing up online at xmradio.com, the service started up very quickly and now we're enjoying satellite radio service.

Didn't take the other 'premium' services though, didn't think Playboy would have the same effect with just audio output...though my wife thought that more than a few men would opt for that service if they spend enough time (probably alone) in the car!

Interestingly, my dealer (Jack Daniels in Fairlawn, NJ) told me that they're signing up XM over Sirius at a rate of 7 or 8:1, that's a big lopsided ratio in favor of XM.

Anyway, it works great with the MMI and it's nice to be able to store it in memory along with the other FM & AM stations for quick access to favorite stations.

Looks like (fingers crossed) that AoA really have this MMI thing finally figured out.

Is that for the A8L Alex? Or just overall? I haven't decided yet on what I'll choose when I do the upgrade. It doesn't look like I'll have to make a decision for a while yet ;-)

So your 2004 A8L didn't come with XM installed? I am looking at getting one and was wondering if it's possible. Can you let me know how you did it, what parts, etc. and roughly how much?

Thanks so much!!!!!!!

Audi has made an offer for free installation and I think it was ~500 for the tuner.

I paid $530 (+ tax of course) to have it installed at my dealer. The price is for the tuner and parts only, the labor was included in the deal and I think it's the deal AoA is offering to all retrofit A8L owners.
