My 2005 A8L is no more but I did walk away from the wreck. Another driver coming the opposite direction made a left directly in fornt of me on a four lane highway and I hit the front passenger wheel and door at about 40MPH. The front of my car is absolutley destroyed and all four front airbags deployed. I have a minor concussion, broken left thumb and abrasions/burns from the airbags as well as a really sore neck but all-in-all am in good shape. These cars really take a beating without passing much to the occupants. I am hoping they total my car because there is no way I believe it could ever be repaired sufficiently. We are driving one of the safest cars on the road . .

If you get the guts to look at your car again, post some pictures, would like to see how it deforms.

I hope you heal quickly and well!

The Belgiam Abassador and his driver a few months ago survived a high speed nasty wreck in his D3. Vorsprug Durch Technik. Is there a lawyer in the house?

Glad ya made it out okay. Pretty minor injury considering the speeds involved. Good luck with recovery, i wish you the best...

Pretty sure your car is a totaled. Not many places can fix an aluminum cars let alone with the ammount of damage you probably have.

are safe and sound.
I was involved in a wreck in my A6 in April. It also protected me well. The damage was fixed ($16,000 worth) but the car was never the same to me. I ended up in the A8. Do all things happen for a reason?
Good luck and take care.

Someone on this forum had taken his family through Arizona when he was run off the road(if I remember correctly). The car saved their lives and he had nothing but praise for AoA!! Imagine that!!

I almost bought that one for $50k. Let me know if they decide to repair yours. It would be nice to have a cheap one to mod and play with a bit.

The only problem I have with them is that they are located on Crooked Lane!!! No lie!

The other driver walked away as well with minor injuries but if he had a passenger they would have been seriously injured or possibly killed. He was driving a Benz E430.

I have to take some digital photos to post. So far only the attorney and insurance companies have photographed the vehicle.

Actual Cash Value of your car by taking what you would pay for a new car just like it, minum depreciation based on X cents a mile if car is a total. The alternative is to obtain dealer quotes on what they could have sold your car for on their lot and day before the accident; a big difference. Not sure what mileage cost used to date but worth looking into.

17-Instruments: -- KWP-2000
VAG-COM works fine.

Recoding for chime and warning lamp preferences:

[Select]
[17-Instruments]
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing 7-digit Soft. Coding for future reference.
Enter the new code from below
[Do It!]

Look at the existing 7-digit Soft. Coding. Look at the fourth digit in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.

0 - No available equipment
+1 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+2 - Seatbelt warning active
+4 - Washer fluid level warning active.

Look at the fifth digit in the coding (Market version):

1 - "Europe" (No Navigation system acceptance screen, also see 56-Radio for other changes)
2 - "USA" 12 hour clock (Navigation system acceptance screen)
3 - "Canada"
4 - "UK"

Example: If you have all of the above warnings active and your car is set to USA (and your factory Soft. Coding is 0007231), if you would like to remove the seatbelt warning, subtract 2 from the fourth digit to make the coding 0005231. If you would like to keep the seatbelt warning, but remove the Navigation acceptance screen, then change the fifth digit from 2 to 1 to make the coding 0007131. If you'd like to remove both the seatbelt warning and the Navigation acceptance screen subtract 2 from the fourth digit and change the fifth digit from 2 to 1 to make the coding 0005131.
