I know this sounds like a stupid question, but... is there a way to turn the radio off (as opposed to merely muting it)? I can't seem to find a way...

It bugs me that the radio (or CD) comes on when I start the car, even if it was "muted" when the car was last used.

Am I missing an obvious control?

Mike, you just need to hold down the mute button for 2-3 seconds and the radio will turn off and the MMI screen retracts. And it won't pop up again when you restart the car next.

I guess you don't like reading the owner's manual either like me! :-)

want to know how I know this? I figured something was up when I read in the manual the following;
"When you see a Silver A8L parked, it is best to park you car beside it and leave them alone for at least an hour."

I see that you received the "silver manual" when you picked up Mr. Plum!

then when you fire up, say, the navigation system, the damn radio comes back on. This drives me nuts!!!

instead of two, the car goes from dynamic to lift, an amber "P" glows on the dash(dont make me repeat that story!), the dash cracks, the front suspension creaks, the rear vent stops blowing air, the wipers stop in mid-wipe and shut down. BTW, what was the question? LOL. I LOVE MY AUDI! Chill out greenie. You are just excited because youre only 6 months away from mounting those Blizzaks!!!

and they "throw" the car in so that no one complains about the cost of the manual. What???????????
