It is the circuitry in the special Audi v60 that makes it work with the A8L. As an example, a regular v60 (from AT&T, Verizon, or Cingular) will fit the charging cradle on the A8L, it can charge its battery, but it will not operate with the MMI.

The cellphone integration is a dead issue for Audi. They couldn't care less that they've given us a crippled system from the start. Take a look at the Acura TL (or even the Toyota Prius) if you want to see a very nicely integrated cellular system.

by Sprint or any carrier, then that service will work in the Audi. Audi sells equipment integrated with their electronics. They don't sell mobile phone srevice. IE: A phone is integrated to the car and a phone is integrated to a cellular service provider. If your phone matches both car and carrier you got a deal.

Overseas, I believe than the cell phone integration is excellent (bluetooth and other good integrated cell phone choices). What will it take for those bastards at Audi to bring good cell phone integration to North America? As tempting as it is, I do not want to resort to violence or threats of violence of any sort.
