Love my 04' A8L... except for all the promises broken by Audi. Ordered my car with XM Satellite... over and over I was told a new delivery date. Asked for MP3 support... again promises unfulfilled.

Audi is the only $75K+ 2004+ car without these basic features... and why do they keep promising customers what they won't deliver? To get sales?

I think the readers or the major auto mags should hear from more of us of the poor customer service from Audi...

you are AHEAD of the curve! I doubt that Audi is the ONLY $70,000+ car without these (basic) features. I believe that Audis problem is a network of dealers that dont know when to tell the truth. The customers can take it. Audi just doesnt know it!

Ironically most lower end cars have it now, since they support the younger crowd. (the typical downloader)

If it means that much to you, get an IPOD and ice link it into your car. Not sure if would work in D3 A8. (6 disc changer in the trunk/glove box or dash?) If it does have it in the glove box or trunk, I am sure and Ice Link would work on it. Atleast then its portable, and it works off your standard radio controls.

The MMI interface is designed to work with MP3's.(its quite scalable) The next time greenie gets a little daring and starts taking stuff appart on his car, hopefully I'll be around and we might be able to figure out this av mystery. It might not be now but maybe by next year, audi will update the MMI interface and offer additional options. Like remember when sound cards were options on computers? now its standard. D3 A8 aside from being a car are like a computer on wheels. The upgrades will come.

the problem is the dealer making false promises. I've had the same experience here. Been promised XM would be released on at least six separate 'certain' dates; was promised adaptive cruise would retrofit to early delivery cars; was promised there would be more functionality/integration of my V60 with the MMI; was promised rear-seat rubber floor mats would be available by end of last year to match fron floor mats; and was promised MMI software upgrades to fix other issues in both Dec and March, neither of which has materialized.

Don't get me wrong I still love my car. But the communication breakdown between AoA and its dealer network is abysmal. At best there is a poor information flow; at worst, dealers are making stuff up to get the sale and apologizing later...easy to blame 'manufacturing issues'.

Why is it so hard for AoA and dealers to figure out that by laying the facts on the table, they actually minimize the bad PR that comes from the communication vacuum that exists on issues like sat radio. I've heard everything across the spectrum: 1) won't be available at all on '04 cars 2) won't be available until '05 cars start arriving 3) delayed because of 'unexpected' MMI integration problems 4) "It's XM's fault 5) it's Audi's fault 6) it's George Bush's fault (people seem to be blaming him for everything else, might as well add this :-)) 7) and now we can add MP3 integration to the list.

Why not a short email or article in my monthly Audi email newsletter stating the status of sat radio and expected solution...even if that solution is that it won't be offered to '04 owners.

Somebody rent these guys a PR person...please!
