Well, it was a long week without Mr. Prune in my garage. The children were so sad to see the loaner caddy returned - LOL - actually, it did come in handy, bench seat up front allows you to carry an extra passenger - although my daughter said it was quite uncomfortable. whine, whine, whine....

Anyway, talked with my service advisor, asked him for a printout of the fault codes that they had to deal with this time around. He smiles and admits that I'm the first person to ever ask for them :) He comes back and hands me a twelve page printout!!! Upon further inspection, it's not all code faults, it prints a complete diagnostic log and some items have faults detected, but most say "0 fault(s) detected", so that made me feel a little better. The log also lists the different diagnostic procedures that were carried out, step-by-step. And something called a "Funktion Test" hmm... is this test administered by James Brown??

So, to make a long story short - here is the repair description.

"Inspected vehicle and found left front wheel speed sensor has come loose and sensor is out of adjustment. Installed new bolt and reinspected system. Now working as designed."

5 days in the shop,
.38 cent part (warranty),
driving my own car again - Priceless!!

One interesting thing Randy discovered on the VAGCOM printout: Under each major system heading it gives some kind of coding/description & dealership# - the interesting thing is there are three different dealership numbers listed. Does that mean my car has been worked on by three different dealerships?

Expecting the FedEx guy to show up today, Randy informed me the VAGCOM software should be on the truck. I think he still needs to order the manuals - this could be interesting....

Have a good weekend everyone :) Cheers!

When I got my car back from its 5K serivce, the diagnostic printout was attached to the work order. Interesting reading eh? I had a couple of pages on the levelling procedure included in the printout.

I too saw a couple of dealership #'s, plus one that was 0000. I wonder if one of the numbers represents the work/prep done at the arrival port?

...from the factory
...from unknown (0000)
...from your dealership
...from other dealerships (or port inspections) that have altered any setting.

VAG-COM and Pro-Diag allow you to set WSC. You should probably set any changes to your dealership:):)

And I didn't know about it? Quoting my favorite german aerospace engineer: "How could 'zis happen?" ;-) Probably just someone not entering their shop code LOL!

Change the "software coding" instead. See <a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/recode_screen.html">*this*</a> for more info . . . .

And no, I don't have any affiliation with Ross-Tech; it's just a great name! 8^)

...are using. I suspect it is either the port or your dealership that forgot to enter a workshop code....

I assume one is the factory &amp; one is my dealer - maybe the third is from a previous dealer who made a deal with my dealer to swap cars to fullfil another deal? :)

...with and assist from Bootsy Collins. :-)

&lt;And something called a "Funktion Test" hmm... is this test administered by James Brown??&gt;

Glad you have your car back. I'll have to ask for the printout when I get mine in and out Monday.

I don't even want to go there... I've only had to take it into the shop once since I got it back on Wednesday! Their mechanic suffered a brain-fart, when they replaced my rear armrest he reinstalled the seat-back with the seatbelts trapped behind - so when I picked my son up from school there was a slight problem... kinda hard to fasten the seatbelt when it's stuck behind the seat! Duh... The service advisor couldn't believe the tech would do that, he just shook his head and promised they would take care of me :) One of the other advisors joked around that maybe I had a little secret affair going on with one of the advisors and using my car as an excuse!! Think that would get me better service?? ;)
