Ever have one of those days when you should have just not put the key into the ignition??? Here's my story.

A friend of mine came over this morning - girl's day out to have fun, you know, shopping, lunch, etc. I tell her, leave your mini-van here - we'll take my car :) and off we go. Back the car out of the garage, step on the brake, BEEP! What !!! it's giving me a parking brake error... okay, I figure after I park and restart the car it will clear itself - you know, just a little confused. We drive to the mall that's about two miles away. Come out after our shopping, get into the car.... BEEP again! Curses!!! Start driving out of the parking lot - tell my friend, let's just take the car home and we'll drive the convertible today. As we're on our way to the house the dash board lights up like a Christmas Tree!

Brake Error
ABS Warning
Check Engine Light
No Speedometer function - wow, we're moving pretty fast for going ZERO
Car seems to be stuck in dynamic mode
and to top it all off... No power steering

Son-of-a-B!tch!!! By this time I'm about ready to lose it. Go into the house and call the service dept. They very nicely tell me to bring it on in - I ask, will it hurt the car to drive it? "No, whatever failed is already ruined" I'm assured.

So I limp on into the dealer's service dept, give them the run-down of all the problems, and oh, by-the-way, someone called me yesterday to tell me you have some parts for my car anyway - might as well add that to the list.

So, our fun day, completely blown - we did manage to get some lunch. I have a 'beautiful' giant, white (and I do mean white) Cadillac DeVille to drive around while they examine my car. I think I'll park the Caddy and drive the convertible this weekend - thank god it's not supposed to rain :)

Sorry for the rant - just had to get it out of my system. I feel slightly better now :)

So sorry about the way your day turned out. I've been very fortunate (comparatively) with my A8L and have only battled a few minor issues. However, I spent 16 months with two different BMW 745s (prior to the A8L) where situations like you describe were all too frequent occurances. I completely understand the frustration.

Here's hoping they can get you back on the road in no time. Good luck!

Not much of a choice. The A4's not so bad, but you really have to goose it to merge onto the freeway.

and that it'll get it all out of it's system at once. I'm an optimist at heart - always see the glass as half full.....

or on this board....

the cheez-whiz can still squirt :)

about what happened. I think its good that all of this happened together, that way they can clear all the codes and get you up and running again. They call these "electrical glitches" and, from what you have described, the dealer should have NO problem getting you back up and running. I was stuck "out" of dynamic the other night and they cleared the code. this problem has gone away but the car still insists on raising or lowering at stop lights. I guess that I shouldnt stop! Again, these gremlins should be fried by the time you get your car back. The question is will they be permanently quarantined!

I'm hoping they can figure it out without too much pain & agony.

Maybe your car insists on raising & lowering because it's a closet low-rider wannabe :) Time to invest in some big bling-ing chrome wheels!
