Hello everyone. I was visiting my local dealership today and they had just taken delivery of an A8L with the new shark fin antenna design. I must say I like it better than the previous design. Sorry I didn't have a camera with me. The new design is a little flatter and narrower without the rounded front edge. There is no upright horizontal shark fin. Instead it has a small flat antenna mast that arises at an angle from the rectangular boxy part that is mounted on the roof. Looks unremarkable and I like that! VIN # was 28200

Right, your vertical fin's top edge is roughly parallel with the ground which is what I called the horizontal fin. The took away the front 4/5th of it and left a small angled stalk at the back.

And I intend to buy several more! I have two local dealers that I've bought parts and service from in the past. Wonder if I get double loyalty discounts on a new one or five, one for each Audi?

It would be nice if it were a replaceable part. The next generation of OnStar will be "upgradable" to a non-analog signal source. Those of us with '04 D3s are stuck with the non-upgradable OnStar analog-only system, and would require a different antenna.

I hate the "shark-fin". I've always thought that it looks like an afterthought. There are so many better looking antennas.

ugly "coat hanger" antennas? Or the electric ones that never worked very long?
