Hey all,

I'm posting this cross-thread across all the model lines... I've been thinking about some group shots.

I live in the Des Moines IA area, and have this idea of getting owners of an S3, S4, RS4, S5 (i have one), S6, RS6, S8 (and R8???) together in a group pic. I have a great professional photographer that is willing to do this, and thought it would be neat for us to get such a shot.

I'm thinking of the S/RS cars- no disrespect to the "A-series," or "s-line A's". It's to kind of focus on the power line of Audi.

Not sure how many of us are here in Central Iowa, but if anyone is interested, please let me know. If so, we can figure out dates and locations.

Perhaps other regions of the country can do this as well?

For those reading this on all of the forums, i would like to keep track in the S5 forum...

I will post this inthe Midwest forum as well...

thoughts?

Thanks!!

Steve

and he paid more...and gets worse gas mileage. We just need more TDI's stateside.

I've read A5 TDI's 0-60 is 5.8 sec

S5 is 4.8

Actually the reason Audi didn't import more Audi's stateside in the past was that the engines didn't pass Northeast and California emissions. Now that the obstacle is out of the way, I do expect to see an increase in TDI shippments.

in the US, it should pay more attention and put more engineering resources in meeting Californian requirements.

It is not that they didn't put enough resources into meeting California requirements, just that it is only technically feasible now.
The problem with diesel engines is that they emit too much NOx & particulates to meet Tier 2 Bin 5. Recent advances in Particulate Traps & Selective Catalytic Reduction means that engines complying with Tier 2 Bin 5 can be produced economically. That is also why the big 3 German makers announced their 50-state diesel engines at around the same time.

The TDI's mid-range acceleration is much quicker than the S5 as it has much more torque.

How does that support your claim of an A5 smoking an S5 when the numbers say otherwise?

An A5 "might" out-accelerate an S5---only if the S5 was in 5th or 6th at low rpm's.

If I had an A5 TDI pull up next to me, you can bet your ??? that i "will" downshift, and it will be a whole different story.
