Purchased the CD from Carson@Riverside. $5.00. Why screw around trying to get it for free?
I popped for the Navteq update disc last spring, so that wasn't an issue. Followed someone's suggestion and emptied out the 6 CD changer; no ipod, so no problem there. Took two passes (and over an hour) for everything to update (from 2740). The update took even though the .pdf someone recently posted (see link) stated that "if the SW-Index is between 0600 and 2750, two MMI System update have to be performed: First update CD 4F0 906 961AB and afterwards with Update CD 4L0 906 961 H."
The .pdf, however, was very useful in providing step by step instructions. The upshot: phone memory now includes dialed calls, missed calls, received calls, etc., all of which were on my VZ Krzr but hadn't shown up in MMI. Someone reported that the directory would now offer "home," "business" and "cell" icons when the same name had multiple entries, but I still only get a standard "phone" icon for all entries. However, the actual number is now displayed at the bottom as you scroll through, and I don't remember that feature from before. And the colors seem more vibrant (greener greens, bluer blues), but maybe that's just my imagination.
Because I have an '07, v2740 had already ditched the lawyer screen and I've always had altitude on my nav, so there was nothing to improve in these respects.
The only negative is that I no longer have a battery strength indicator under "car."<ul><li><a href="http://www.jeffgalla.com/work/Braman%20Audi/pdf/customer%20pay%20mmi%20system%202008%20update%20(2 ).pdf">helpful .pdf</a></li></ul>

practice in Europe, but I doubt AoA will be as helpful or understanding of DIY MMI upgrades gone wrong considering the difficulties getting 'legitimate' ones done.

add 32 to the value in adaptation channel 2 of group 7 (the front control head). Or said another way, it should say 35 when you are done. There is a TSB that says that somewhere too.

Pierre, a lot of us are on 33.6 (including me and you) and I really don't see the advantage of moving to 41.40 at this point. Also, I'm not aware of any TSB that would convince the dealer to perform the upgrade from 33.6.
What are you going to do?

1. Sirius preset greyed out bug to go away, although it doesn't happen often.
2. better BT phone integration with my BB 8830, such as ringing through car speakers, no annoying buzz when occasionally dialing, dialed calls reflecting all dialed calls, not just ones from the car, etc.
3. 2008 DIS (even monochrome) show cruise control speed setting, so I'm wondering if I'll get that.
we'll see :) I have the CD, but the dealer's ordering his own and we'll use that one when it comes in.

I still have version 1190 as I did previously. Was having a fuel guage problem so they said they would try updating the software. Not sure if the problem is fixed, as it was intermittent. I had to wait over 2 hours...so what the heck did they do?

Pierre,
I have been reading all of the threads and think that I know what I need to do. I have a 2004 A8, operating US MMI version 6.0. I am out of warranty, although my dealer has offered to do the updates for me. They told me to tell them the part numbers I need and they will install them. Sounds like I need the two cds: 4FO 906 961AB and 4L0 906 961 H. Is this correct? If that is the case, I will either order from Audipartsdepot.com or order through them.
Any advice?

No pic, but the code on the version screen reads as follows:

I'm in the same position as you. Wondering if you ran the upgrade and have any tips. My dealer was clueless (at least the two techs I talked to).
Thanks to some email exchanges with Pierre, I'm going to v10 of the Nav DVD with at least 33.6, maybe 44.1.
Would love to hear how it went!

One more advantage of upgrading to 4140 is that the CD playing actually "Pauses" when you turn the volume "Off".
In the last version I had (2740), the CD would still keep playing in the background with just the sound muted.
I do not see any improvement with the annoying cellphone buzz when connecting though.
Also the phonebook import function has been enabled but It says that my car memory is NOT SUFFECIENT to hold all my phonebook information from the cellphone.

I did it 2 weeks ago, and it went fine. Pulled my car from garage and went to a supermarket parking lot at 6am. Left the car in idle, and did the first disc while browsing the web on my laptop.
Took about an hour and 15 min for me. Had to run disc one 3 times before everything was updated. Once it all looked fine, I went home and connected bluetooth on my phone. Originally, my phone could only make and recieve calls. I could not see my contacts. Now I could "import" contacts to the MMI (not what I wanted) but not read the phonebook, "live".
I did disc 2 on Sunday. Went to same place. I think I had to run that one twice before all parts were done. 55 minutes.
Now, I could view the phonebook in realtime, but instead of a little icon for home, cell, work, it just said "SIM" by every entry in the display.
Finally, I upgraded the ROM on my windows mobile phone to a newer bluetooth radio version, and everything is working great (now I get the icons). And since I did not bother with the "import" I know that the contacts the car sees are always up to date.
