I just picked up an '05 A6 4.2 after an almost 8 year run with my first love...a '99.5 Jetta VR6, which btw is for sale.

The new ride is unbelievable. Black w/tan leather, bose sound, sport package, nav, voice, bluetooth, and cold weather. I bought it with 26k, so it's still under warranty. Does anyone know if Audi will certify a private sale purchase for $$$? Am I better off looking elsewhere for extended warranties? Thanks in advance!

I don't think they will "certify" your car, but you should be able to purchase an extended warranty from Audi as long as it is under factory warranty. Also, if you look elsewhere for an extended warranty keep in mind most dealerships only accept Audicare warranties purchased directly from Audi. I had an '05 A6 4.2 s-line until I got my S6. I was very happy with it.
