Does anyone really know how long it takes to get an Audi A4. I ordered mine on Nov. 4 and was told it would take about 2 months. My dealer called yesterday to tell me I'm getting the revised A4 99.5. I just read on the Vortex web site these A4's will arrive in February. Help! Does it really take that long? I'm thinking I should change the color so I can get it sooner.
Thanks for any replies.
Karen

I ordered my '99 on August 17. The car was delivered to my dealer October 20. Two months was a very accurate estimate in my case, but I've heard they can take longer. When you think about it, two months from order -Ingolstadt factory-ship-port-truck-dealer is a pretty impressive feat.
What color did you order? Thinking about taking one off the lot?
karen,
I would wait for the revised A4 over the current model. Its not a bad wait. 30days and you get awhole lot more refinement
Be patient...

I am with TGB - waiting 3 months , 2 weeks now. However, August the factory was closed - no
production, so that was one of the months. Time period all depends on options you order -
sometimes the dealer can change a car already in the schedule to match what you want and
you will get it sooner - probably what happened in the case of the guy who got his car in two
months. Also the demand for these cars is high, In my case, the Sept 98 production was
already spoken for, and none could be modified to match what I wanted, so mine was built in
Oct and is now sitting on the dock in Houston TX.

I sell high-line cars, and believe me, you will wait. Thats part of the reason Diamler had to deal with Chrysler, it was taking too long to get a car...
Think about how long you will have it. If you plan on keeping it for a while then wait and get everything you want, even color.
I ordered mine on October, 30 and it missed the January production schedule.
It is supposed to be build in February which means I should get the car in
early April at the latest.
If your dealer says 2 months then he probably changed a car which was already
scheduled for January production, which is the first month for the 99.5

I ordered red with black leather interior, but I am so anxious I am thinking about a different color. It seems there are no red ones in the state of CA. Maybe red is alittle too flashy. There are plenty of silver and black ones around. I could handle 2 months, but it may just give me too much time to change my mind. The car I have ordered has the cold weather package and they don't usually send those cars to CA, according to my dealer, so... the hang-up was the red and heated seats. Oh well, gives me plenty of time to read up. Do you think the dealer would let me have an owners manual to read for 2 months?!

Karen:
It's such a shame that you live on the west coast,
because I have a '98 2.8Q Sport Tip., a '98 2.8Q
Avant Sport Tip. (PHAT), and a couple of '99 2.8Q
5-speeds in stock, and ALL of the Norhteast cars
are ordered w/all-weather pack. It's more of a
shame because all '98 A4s are dealer COST -$1000!

Ordered our '99 1.8 Avant QMS late October, just heard from the dealer that it's being built this week. Could this be a 99.5 or is it a 99 that he had ordered and just changed to fit my order?. He also told me that he had to pull a lot of strings to get the yellow paint. Apparently, they're only building 5 US-bound yellow 1.8 Avants in '99 (???). Anyway, when should I expect the car?

I have called every dealer in California, Arizona and Nevada. Where are they? They don't have red, or so they say. I would have even taken less options, but since I have to order it I might as well go all out.

Not too sure about the dealer having spare owner's manuals. But there's a lot of resources to use starting with A4.org. (I've found the faq and links to be useful along with the forum)
Personally, I'm very fond of the silver (my car has a silver exterior), I think it accentuates the lines of the A4 pretty well, second only perhaps to the Pearlescent White in this factor. But that's my opinion.
I'm completely satisfied with my A4 because I got exactly what I wanted. I hope you do too!

Karen
Do I understand that your dealer thinks it takes longer to build a red car with cold weather because it will be delivered in CALIFORNIA. HA!! That is a new one. I just picked up a Silver 99 in SF Bay Area that had the all weather...I don't want....so how much will you give me to take it out and install on your car.
Seriously...call AOA and talk to them. When I first ordered a car thru Carlsen motors, all I got from the dealer was the run around and incorrect info. They even told me the car was on the dock in Houston, when AOA confirmed that it was on the dock....IN GERMANY. That's when I got my deposit back.
It is a great car.
Good luck
gramps 2.8 mqs
