Hello,
I owned a 2001 A6 until it was totaled in a bad car wreck and now i am shopping around and am looking at a 2005 A6. What should i expect from this car. Does this car still have the timing belt issues like the older a6's? Does it even have a timing belt anymore? Since it is the first year of production for this body style should i expect lots of problems? What should i look for.
Thank you.

No,
They do not all have Navigation. There is a Nav button on all 2005+ A6's. In order to have Navigation, there must be a navigation unit in the media rack in the left side of the trunk. It can supposedly be retrofitted which I am about to try (once my german shipment gets delivered). Anyways, good to have you to the forum and enjoy your new ride.

Like Dr Zeus said, not all C6 A6 have Navigation installed. In the U.S., all C6 A6 have the screen which is part of the standard MMI (Multi Media Interface). The screen is needed for tons of setting - even without Nav.
All C6 A6 have the button called "Navigation" in the console but the Navigation works only like Zeus said when the actual nav device was installed.

Some dealers will install the nav into the car for $2400 - $2700 USD. I still haven't heard any details with a US owner and Self Installation.

I am pretty good with installing electric/alectronic stuff but I want to see someone do it. You're a brave soul.....

. . . my problem was, past tense, four push button starter buttons, upon delivery and one per month for the next three months. Otherwise, without problems.
I have 25K miles on mine.
A6 3.2 with ALMOST every option that was offered at the moment. I added the in arm rest phone cradle for the Sony T630 bluetooth phone.
I have the 18" wheels and tires and am without the sport suspension. I have but that ONE regret.

I take it in to the dealer and they do something different each time and then i am back in two months with the same problem.
Replaced start button once.
Dealer is great and has a car waiting when I take my car in.

My '05 was in four times until the dealer called the factory. They had them update software, replace a sensor or two, and wire in resistors into the circuit. It is fixed now. Tell your dealer to get a hold of Audi and do the same to yours.
Good luck,
John
