some of you fellow (C6)A6 owners. About a month ago, i bought a slightly used 2005 Audi A6 3.2Q. It is intended to be a daily driver for my wife, but currently she is not going to work because she is at home for another 3 months caretaking for our newborn girl. I'll say that she absolutely LOVES her new car, as do i.

With that said, we have noticed a few issues with the car that i would like to compare with you guys to see if you are experiencing any of these similar issues. The issues are the following:

1. I have noticed a hesitation in acceleration when going from a dead stop and then applying the gas pedal. It seems that the revs increase, but the car does not progress forward.

2. Inoperable button (located at top right of dial) on the MMI unit. This button is not functional at all.

3. Homelink does not seem to be working. When i press any of the appropriate buttons, the lights do not appear as to indicate functionality.

4. After disengaging the e-brake, i'll let off of the foot brake to reverse direction. As soon as i do this, it appears that the brakes re-engage again auotmatically(without me applying the foot brake). What gives??

5. Temperature Gauge. I live in hot Texas, but my temp gauge constantly reads at 110 degrees or higher when driving. The highest it has registered was 132 degrees. WOW!!

6. When starting the car in the morning, it takes a bit of effort for it to crank over; at least 5 or 6 times before it actually starts. Bad starter, battery, not enough fuel??

Sorry if this is a lot of reading, but i want to see if i am a lone ranger with some of these issues. Also before i end this, i would like to say that i have been lurking here for a few weeks and absolutely love the tone of this message board. And lastly, i already have a scheduled appt. (next Thursday) with the Audi service dept. for them to diagnose/fix these issues i've identified. Thanks for your time.

I haven't experienced any of the problems that you have pointed out. You must have something wrong, best thing to do is take it back to the dealer and voice your concerns with them. It all should be covered under your warranty. Be sure to find out the history of your car (you should always do this first when purchasing a used car), make sure it wasn't a buy back or something worse.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!!

I have a fairly comprehensive understanding of my car's history, considering i bought it out of state. I guess you could say that i've researched everything about my particular car, just short of viewing DMV records. So far, i have already spoken to a local service advisor and he has been extremely helpful thusfar. I was supposed to take my car in tomorrow for them to diagnose these issues, but he called today and asked if we could reschedule until next week. So, next week it is. He has already mentioned that they will have to replace the complete MMI unit because of the one non-functional button; under warranty of course. Regarding the other issues, they will just have to diagnose and fix those issues when i bring the car in.

Good, sounds like Audi is taking care of you, as they should.

I love my car and so far the experience with the dealership has been most favorable, so, I'm sure yours will be too. Keep us posted on how it all plays out and post some pics of your new car!

I'm glad to hear that your local dealer is taking care of you as you bought your car out of state. I just bought my new '06 last Friday in another part of my state (FL) and will be taking it to a different dealer for service. I am concerned how they will treat me since I bought it elsewhere. Please post back here when you take you car in for service next week.

In issue 1, does the car behave in this fashion in either S mode or D mode?
Do you tell us how many miles were on the car and was it a CPO model?

Thanks for the welcome!! I have only noticed the hesitation when in D mode.

I bought my A6 with approximately 11,100 miles on it. It was purchased from an independent, non-Audi dealership; so the vehicle is NOT a CPO. I didn't really care to pay the extra $$ for the CPO primarily because my wife and i don't keep our vehicles for long periods of time. I'm fairly certain that we will sell this vehicle before the standard manufacturers warranty expires (nothing against this particular Audi).

I will definately keep you guys updated on the experience when i take it in next Thursday.

it might be even better since most profits are made in the service department. Of course AOA/Audi AG only gives certain amounts of monies for warrany/free MA duties based on the (time chargeable back to Audi) what "they" say it should take the service tech to complete the task plus parts.

Things aren't like to used to be with huge profits being generated by sales. Service is key, it's a shame alot of dealers still don;t get it.

#1. It's not a bug... it's a "feature". A much discussed issue, known as "tip lag" If you feather the throttle on gently, you can get around it. It takes practice. Less of a factor in the S mode.

2. Needs repair.

3. Have you programmed it per the manual?

4. Needs repair.

5. The temperature sensor may be reading the pavement temperature, rather than the air temperature. Does the reading go down after you start driving?

6. Needs repair. Mine starts right up instantly.

Phil,

1. When you mention "tip lag", i assume you are referring to the tiptronic feature. When the symptoms i've described occurs, it almost always happens whne i feather the throttle while in normal D mode (tip not activated). Maybe i'm not understanding correctly??

2. I have been told that since this feature is not functional, the complete MMI unit will be replaced (under warranty). We'll see what happens.

3. I have not tried programming it per the owners manual. Because i bought this vehicle in used condition, i did not recieve the vehicle's owner manual. I ordered the it through my local Audi dealership 1 month ago and am still waiting to receive it...

4. I agree.

5. The temperature will decrease in number, but not typically lower than 110 degrees.

6. I agree again. When i first received the car, it did start up right away. Just lately it has been consistently slow to start up.
