I know it hasbeen asked hundreds of times but if someone could post a definitive answer, and maybe make the FAQ a lot more clear this topic could go away forever.
I am very confused about the different options for clear turn-signals and side-markers. I have seen an incredible price range $500-$50. Also, what exacctly are Euro lights, I assume that means replacing the entire headlight?
Lastly, where is this sort of stuff ordered? Dealership?, parts supplier?, speed-shop?
If someone can give a very complete answer it would be most appreciated, and then maybe the FAQ can be updated?
Thanks a lot
Stu Koch
99 A4 2.8qts

The sidemarkers are the small lights mounted on each side of the car, right in front of the doors. The stock ones are yellow with clear bulbs (at least on my '97). I purchased "Valeo" (they're the manufacturer) ones which are a "smoked" color, they came with replacement yellow bulbs. They are a smoked, clear color. Not a smoked yellow color. I paid $40 for the pair from a guy I corresponded with on this web site.
Clear corner lamps are the lights in the front 2 corners of the car. The clear ones do not have the yellow reflector on the side (as US law requires). So technically, the legality of having the clear-corners is questionable but I doubt you'd ever have a problem with either the police or state inspections (if you have them where you live). I purchased mine from the same guy I got the smoked sidemarkers from. Mine are Bosch units and I think I paid about $130 for them. You reuse the yellow bulb which came stock in the A4.
European lights are entire new headlamp units. I don't know too much about them specifically for the A4 so I'll let someone else post about them.
Andy Hedin
'97 A4 1.8Tqms, Wett 1.0 Bar, ABT Filter, Tint

For all questions concerning anything about lights, call mark at Lltek Motorsports 888 465-5835. He'll be able to answer any questions. They also sell the sidemarkers (clear/smoke) for $33US and the turn signals for $88US. I highly recommend this company.

That was terrible, I know.
Anyway, I have a 98.5 2.8Q which I installed the Bosch Euro lights on. There are two major differences between the Euro lights and the standard lights. One, the Euro lights have a different, optically superior, lense. Second, the Euro lights include city lights. While the city lights are a nice little feature to set you apart from the crowd, the different lense pattern is the reason to buy the lights. They cast a broader light while utilizing a sharp, diagonal cutoff to illuminate the right side of the road. I purchased mine as a package from Autobahn using the deal from the NorEast web site. My package included Bosch headlights and clear corners, and smoked side markers. I'm very happy with the lights, and they do make a difference!
