Just got a 2006 A6 4.2. I love the car and would like to hold on to it for a long time. But, I'm wondering if this is a car that one would dare keep beyond the warranty period. Any experiences out there with longer term A6 ownwers?

great cars, but unless you like to work on your own car a lot (after the factory expires) get an extended warranty.

I learned my lesson on my A4, should have sold it before 100K. As it was, I sold it at 109K after putting about $2K into it those last 10 - 15K miles, and was staring at another $2k.

my A6 is a CPO with 2 more years of extended. wouldn't do it any other way.

But I wouldn't own any European car without some kind of warranty.

Even the 2.8 is OK except for leaking cam adjustor seals on some.
