View Full Version : Poll : If you were to buy a motorcycle, what would you buy & why?
ACSGP 02-21-2006, 04:39 AM Is there a specific motorcycle that would appeal to Audi owners? Is there any Audi design feature that appeals on a bike?
I'm thinking of buying one, and my picks (being old) are the Kawasaki Z1000 and the Ducati Monster S4R. Don't have to be bent like a pretzel to ride the bikes.

http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/2003/2003-kaw-Z1000_021.jpg</a

80mph+ top speed.
It is a 200cc with CVT tranny and big 16' wheels.

April 02-21-2006, 09:55 AM Not as sporty and agile as the GSXR I had before it, but built like a sporty version of a BMW tourer. Body work made from polyurethane instead of ABS plastic, perfect welds to make you cry, etc. I had mine re-jetted and installed a new pipe. Got rid of flat spots, sharpened throttle response and made a bit more power.
Install heli-bars to raise the handle bars if you want to be a bit more upright.

AlexTTQ 02-21-2006, 10:42 AM Whoohoo!!!!!
3.2 gal tank.
The best part?
$5.35 to fill her up on 93 Octane!!
jal6231 02-21-2006, 10:57 AM I sold it when we had our 1st. I would buy a 999s or 999r in a heartbeat. I would also consider the BMW K1200R or an Aprilia Tuono Factory R. V-Twin FAN!
Too bad Audi doesn't make motocycles.

jal6231 02-21-2006, 04:14 PM That would be worth the money.
ACSGP 02-21-2006, 05:02 PM So no Japaneses fans then. Been invited to the Singapore launch of the Paul Smart 1000 LE which is part of the SportClassic range. Beautiful bike, very close in spirit to the Ducati Hailwood replica, one of my all time favorites.
Been a Kawasaki fan all my life though, and still find that the Z1000 is a beautiful bike.
Did consider the new Triumph Speed Triple, but have never been a Triumph or Norton fan.

http://www.ducati.com/bikes/my2006/ducatiModel.jhtml?family=sportclassic&modelName=SM ART1000LE-06</a

philm35 02-21-2006, 07:12 PM This Audi owner rides a 2004 BMW R1150R. All of the high technology and German engineering and character you love in your Audi, on a bike!

April 02-21-2006, 09:41 PM touring type bikes. I found the GSXR really limited the disance I was comfortable traveling. The Triumph didn't affect anything. On the GSXR 1100 I could outrun anything if I was smart about it ;-)
It all boils down to how you use your bike.
ACSGP 02-22-2006, 12:26 AM Used to have the original GPz900R or Ninja 900 in the States, but those days are over.
AlexTTQ 02-22-2006, 07:48 AM They are going away from 2 stroke because of emissions.
It has a CVT tranny.
Pretty cool; now I can tell my clients that the A4 CVT or A6 CVT drives feels like my scooter.
BwwwwwAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :)
jal6231 02-22-2006, 06:51 PM The others are reasonable. 43K for all would be a steal...
MilesM 02-24-2006, 02:05 PM My wife and I have been riding BMW bikes for the past 20 years.
Currently she rides an R1200ST and I ride a K1200S which may explain why both the 3.2 and 4.2 C6 feel equally sort of slow.
The K12 goes from 0-60 in less than 3 seconds and does the quarter mile in less than 10 seconds!
Also, we purchased our latest Beemers this past May; the C6 3.2 in September. Both bikes have proven more reliable than the car; amazingly enough. The car has been in for major repairs twice - once flatbedded in to the dealer. When that happened, I just rode the big "K"!
