I did this on a relatively warm night in September last year.

My car is a 2000, stock exhaust, stock intake, and Tiptronic. All I have for performance mods is the APR ECU upgrade 1.0 bar chip (and the bi-pipe upgrade).

Given that the car has an auto tranny, it was a little hard to do the dyno very accurately. Nonetheless I think the results are very close to what APR promises: http://www.goapr.com/Audi/images/dyno_a6_stage_i.gif

Note that the losses expected from the tip tranny and AWD amounts to ~27%. Hence the numbers, at least to me anyway, jive with what they advertise.

What do you guys think?

Also, what's the next thing I should put my target sights on...muffler upgrade? Catback? Intake?

Speaking of intake, I read that article in the tech section of this site, where a 2000 S4 showed almost nil gains with the "cold-air" intake upgrade compared to stock.

Summation: Ignoring the dyno results, seat of the pants feel is as follows: MASSIVE difference between stock boost and APR chip. I have the switch option so I can swap between stock and chipped mode all the time. Hella lot more smiles.

However it is a bit disappointing once you pass 5K rpm, the thrust certainly lessens. The Dyno guy told me this is so typical of APR chips. I told him that it is probably safer anyway for my Tip tranny (which I really would not like to see go bust anytime soon, $$$).

Anyone have real-world experience with any of this? How to smoothen out the torque curve?
