Do you see any possibility there might be a "waiting list" for any Audi cars? I don't think so.

Very different animal from the regular A8 so you need to decide what you want in a car.
A deposit is always refundable unless you sign an agreement stating otherwise, so it doesn't hurt to place a deposit with a dealer you like and have them keep you up to date with developments and order option changes.

The RS cars are produced in such limited numbers that if you don't get your name on the list, you might be waiting a long time. Also some dealers that I do business with do not mark-up the car when you place an order with a deposit before the car arrives.

on an expensive car when the same money could allow them to carry 2 or 3 other less expensive models that have a good chance of selling quickly. The more expensive the car, normally the more particular the customer and the more likely it will be a special order anyway.
Back when th first S4s and TTs came out, we had virtually no inventory on the lot for the first year. Everything was deposit and order.

3.2 A3, citing demographics in their area do not warrant stocking the car. I see plenty of folks just trying to find one to test drive.
