Everytime I start the car, that message comes up for a few seconds on the MMI, can't do anything until it disappears, then comes back a few seconds later. This might go on a few times until finally stops.

The service manager told me that it is because the radio is losing contact with the satelite. He was able to replicate the issue in an A8.

Now my car almost always has line-of-sight south. The music is NEVER interupted.

Does anyone with XM radio not have this problem?

Very annoying issue from day one!

I have this problem, although it usually does it once at startup, then another time about 1-2 minutes later.

FRom what I've seen on my A8, the station names are being (re)loaded every time you restart the car. You are still able to change stations by pressing the 'arrow' buttons on either side of the Return Button.

The left thumb wheel on the steering wheel also works while the update message is displayed.

I haven't figured out the pattern yet but I periodically get the same message and I have Sirius. It's not a very descriptive or interactive message, it just tends to disappear after a short while.

I have had it appear only rarely. Sirius customer assistance says it will do this the first time you use the radio after they have changed something in their channel list. I'm guessing the explanation with XM is the same??

This happens everytime I start the car. XM can't be updating that often...

You're right. Must be a problem. Defective XM box, perhaps?

Supposedly not a defective XM receiver. Although I'm begining to wonder why there have not been many owners stating they don't have a problem.
