View Full Version : Bad service and Good service

I've gone on (ad nauseam) about the oil leak and CD issues I had with my car, and I wanted to throw some service experiences out there for everyone.

The dealership that did the fix on my oil leak was Continental Motors in Melbourne Florida. They're nice people and seem to have stopped the leak, but they were pretty sloppy with their work:
* Turns out they didn't clean any of the old oil off of my engine or out of the bottom engine cover. So when I got home, I still had drips showing up in my garage. Millenium Audi (in Houston, Texas) discovered that the engine hadn't been cleaned and got all the old oil off.

* In the process of cleaning off my engine, Kevin at Millenium realized that the people at Continental hadn't put the front part of my engine cover back on (I think the part that says "3.2L" on it). I called Continental and told them. They promised to get it out to me. Two weeks later, I still hadn't received it. I called again, and the assured me that it was going out this time. We'll see.

* The other issue with Continental is with my CD player. I had the static issue coming through my speakers (only when in CD mode), and even though my car was in their shop for 1 week waiting on parts for the oil leak, they never looked at my CD player. I called them several times during the week and reminded them, but they never got around to doing it. I told them about a post I'd read on the forum where one person said that their connections were loose/dirty. I told Continental about it, and they said that this explanation didn't make sense and that Audi didn't want anyone messing with the connections.

Well, when I had the car in the shop at the GOOD dealership in Houston, Kevin put a few drops of contact enhancer on my CD connections...problem solved. Of course, 2 weeks later, the static came back, but I just popped back in, and Kevin put more solution on the connections. Granted, I don't want to keep doing the quick fix for this issue, but it keeps me with my CDs until Audi decides what to do with the changers.

Like I said, Continental in Melbourne seems to be a nice dealership, but their attention to detail is lacking.

Millenium in Houston has been good about spotting problems and finding Continental's mistakes, and they seem eager for business. If you're in Houston, I'd recommend trying them out.

Hope this info helps.

Live and learn!
