Hi, I just bought a 2001 Audi A6 and I am excited! Unfortunately, the car came with only one key and without any keyless remote, switchblade or spare key. The one key I have does open the trunk and start the ignition as well as opens the doors.
I definitely want the keyless remote and a second key. I saw some (uncut) versions available on EBAY (I am in North NJ). Most of the available keyless remotes seem to be 4D0 837 231P (that is the part number).
Questions:
1.) Will the above part number starting 4D0 (from Ebay) work with my car? If not, what is the right part number?
2.) Does my car have an immobilizer and if so, is the Audi Dealer my only option to cut and program the key and the keyless remote? If so how much is the going rate for this?
3.) What other option or options may I be overlooking to achieve my objectives most economically?
