Hi guys (& gal), need your help. The Bluetooth and Voice Active Suite have not been installed in C6s in Singapore. The distributor has now sent out an advisory saying that these functions are now available to be retro-fitted.

Given the criticisms I've seen in this forum on the Bluetooth (radio doesn't automatically reduce its volume etc), just wanted to know if it's worth the time and money to retro-fit. Bluetooth at about USD1,000 and Voice Activated CD, Telephone & Radio at another USD1,200.

I use bluetooth with my Nokia 9500 and it works fine, the only annoying thing is that i can't import the phonebook from the phone to the car. But i took the time and inserted my numbers in the car's built-in phonebook and it's all ok.

I use the loudspeaker on the phone, no bluetooth function on it. If the bluetooth functions on the MMI is worth it, will upgrade.

The value depends on how much you use the phone in the car. For me I use the phone in the car about 1 hr a day so it is very useful. I only need to spend another $300 for a compatible Motorola A630 phone since US cars come prewired.

It transfer my SIM phone book OK, dialed numbers, received numbers and missed numbers. It does not display the strength. It also does not support dial capability or switch calls (only replace or ignore) during a call. So one still has to use the phone keypads for voice mails, conference call access or credit card calls .....

Am I willing to pay $1000 extra if it does not come prewired? Most probably not (just like my last A4) since a bluetooth headset at $100 will works just fine. However if you get the it wired at $1000, pay the extra $300 for the voice recognition. Thats what I regretted not getting as I have to play with the MMI knobs to make calls.

How much is an A6 in Singapore? A friend of mine say it cost almost $100k in Taiwan.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback.

The A6 3.0 quattro(we don't have the 3.2 because of the tax structure) is about USD140,000 on the road. We have an import duty of about 125% of the value of the car, and have to bid in an auction process for a "Certificate of Entitlement" which basically gives you a right to drive the car on the road for 10 years. It's currently about USD12,000 right now, but the high in 1994 was USD60,000.

and if the numbers are on the car's phonebook you can make the call using the buttons on the steering wheel.

(and i thought cars in Portugal were expensive, i think you have the most expensive A6 of the forum)
